Meetings. Donations. Selection.

Meeting Dates and Times

Meetings are held the third Thursday of January, April, July, and

October from 6 to 7pm.

Donation Process

Each member of the 100+ Golden Heart Women Who Care commits to donating $100 per meeting, 4 times a year, for a total of $400 per year.

Any member may nominate a local nonprofit organization that is based and operating in the Interior of Alaska. At meetings, three nominated nonprofits will be randomly selected from the hat. The nominating members of these three nonprofits will each make a five-minute presentation about the organization to the group.

Once the presentations are over, voting takes place by ballot and majority rules. Members agree to donate regardless of their initial nonprofit preference.

For tax purposes, all checks will be made out to the chosen organization. If you are unable to attend, give a blank check to a member to deliver on your behalf. Donations should be received within 30 days of the quarterly meeting. You may also make out your check to the chosen nonprofit and mail it to:

Keller Williams Alaska Group Fairbanks

Attn: Randi Carnahan

1292 Sadler Way (Global Credit Union Building)

Suite 200

Fairbanks, AK, 99701

The 100+ Golden Heart Women Who Care team leaders and successful advocate member will arrange for a check presentation with the selected nonprofit. All Golden Heart Members are welcome to join!

Nonprofit Eligibility

Established nonprofit organizations serving the Interior of Alaska are eligible for nomination. No national nonprofits will be considered unless they have a local chapter that provides direct services to local community members (such as the Red Cross). The purpose is for the contribution to stay 100% in the community.

Nonprofits agree to provide individual tax receipts and to refrain from using donor information for future solicitations or for publicity purposes unless specified otherwise by the member. Nonprofits also agree to send a representative to the following meeting to describe the impact that the donation had.

Selected nonprofits are not eligible for resubmission for three years. Nonprofits not selected are eligible for renomination immediately.

Presentation Tips

A nonprofit organization must be pre-qualified to be eligible for a presentation. If your organization is drawn at the meeting, your presentation should be simple and not overly formal.  You are limited to 5 minutes.  Here is a list of questions that you should be prepared to discuss.  After the presentation members will have a chance to ask your questions.

  • What is the name of the organization?

  • Where is it located?

  • What is the mission of the organization?

  • What does the organization do? How? For whom?

  • How is the organization currently funded?

  • How will the funds be used?

  • How would the organization benefit from receiving the donation?

  • Why do you feel compelled to nominate this organization?
